Geography and Design Technology
As part of our geography work we have been learning all about Kenya. We have learned about the different climate and landscapes in Kenya and have also looked at the culture and the people who live there. We learned about the Masai people and the traditions they have. For example the beautiful jewellery they make, the specific colours they use in their jewellery and what they represent. We then linked this to our DT work and designed, made and evaluated our own Masai necklaces. We had great fun making them especially adding the beads to our necklaces.
In English we have been learning our new Talk For Writing text, Jack and the Baked Beanstalk. We will be learning how to write different sentence types, in particular, questions and exclamation sentences. An exclamation sentence must begin with What or How and also end with a verb, For example "What a sharp teeth he has!" (Think Little Red Riding Hood)
Stay tuned for a performance of the story.
In maths we are leaning all about division. We have been dividing by grouping and applying this strategy to solve a range of problems.
In history we have been learning all about the suffragettes. We have learnt about the key events of the suffragette movement and the important role Emmeline Pankhurst played in helping women to get the vote. We created freeze frames showing some of these important events and thought about how it might have felt to be a suffragette.
