Sporting Aims And Facilities

The main hall is equipped with a range of PE equipment and we have the use of a large school field. We provide a range of small games equipment to use at lunch times.

This encourages an informal interest in organised games in addition to the direct teaching of skills in lesson times.

Year 1 and 2 children participate in a Skills Festivals through our sports partnership. Through this we are working with colleagues in raising the standard and amount of P.E. in school.

For the last few years we have had Clive Allen who is a former England and Birmingham Bullets basketball player and coach working with our children.

In recent years our children have also taken part in working with an Olympic athlete and we presently provide after school football and tennis.

The school provides all pupils with over 2 hours of Physical Education Activity each week through the following:

  • Designated P.E. lessons
  • Lunchtime physical activities
  • Outdoor play
  • Extra curricular sports opportunities

Children in the Reception classes have additional time to develop physical skills through the use of our Foundation Stage outdoor provision area and large range of climbing apparatus and wheeled toys. The children are taught skills related to co-ordination and co-operation. They are given a broad based physical education curriculum.
